From LA Times Weekly: A new collaborative book organized by artist, author and designer Karrie Ross, pays tribute to that singular feature of the early days of the pandemic, the toilet paper shortage.
At a time when bathroom tissue was seen as a rare commodity and the difficulty in acquiring it and/or extreme hoarding of it became emblematic of both real disruption and absurdity at the highest level of social anxiety, Ross did what she does best — she asked artists about it.
The project called for artwork using one 4 x 4-inch sheet of toilet paper, mentioning that it could be, “painted, folded, drawn on, basically anything they wanted, but only one sheet,” and the results came rolling in.
