Portals 2021-ongoing
Portals Series works on Paper/Tyvek/Collage. Portals are an intimate revelation and interpretation of the Vapours’ inner world and the ever changing landscape inspired by my daily walks on More Mesa Preserve 400+ acres of beautiful trails and steps to a pristine beach with its gentle breezes and the bringer of light, patterns & warmth. On these walks I imagine Portals where mingling lines of magnetic force from the Sun and Earth criss-cross and join to create unpredictability and potential to express the changing lines of energy, beckoning us to pass through in to a magical place, something beyond, an imagined landscape healing and hopeful.
Kerrie Smith’s Portals are an intimate revelation of the Vapours’ inner world. These paintings rise out of the patterns of light and shadow experienced during her solitary walks on the Santa barbara Bluffs.
