Light Patterns 2016-ongoing

This series references a dynamic relationship primarily through the juxtaposition of dense color layers within an abstract geometric structure. The color layers form cloud-like patterns of light, which flow through and across the geometric boundaries of the surface to communicate the ephemeral interplay of light and the tangible structure of the physical world. Richly textured patterns of color simultaneously define and erode the geometric boundaries within the paintings.

Erosion is a process affected over time by natural forces such as water wind and often sped up by poor management of other human impacts on land. Morphodynamic interactions generate striking shapes and produce rhythmic patterns over a wide range of scales and our coastal system conjures the entire spectrum of interactions between mountains, rivers, waves and tides and its shape shifting ability.
